In a recent tweet, journalist Fernando Serrano mentioned that Barcelona are eyeing a loan move for Sevilla full-back Marcos Acuna. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are hoping to seal a loan deal for the Argentine defender before the end of this transfer window.
Os lo digo yo antes de que salte la "sorpresa" el Barça quiere la cesión de Acuña.

Acuna’s Solid Season In La Liga
Acuna has found game time hard to come by at the Spanish club this season but has managed to put in a few impressive displays on the left side of their defence. The Argentine sensation has secured three assists in 14 matches for the Andalusian outfit during this campaign across various competitions.
The 32-year-old has been a solid presence at left-back based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 0.9 clearances, 0.7 shots and 0.8 key passes per game in La Liga. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from the back, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83.4% in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Acuna is under contract at the Spanish club until the summer of 2025. However, he is not getting a regular run of games at Sevilla and might welcome a move to the Nou Camp in search of more game time this winter.
Is Acuna A Decent Choice For Barcelona Boss Xavi?
Acuna is a tough-tackling defender who can make a few important clearances at the back. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and can create some promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. The Argentine talent is primarily a left-back but can also function as a left-winger if told to do so by his manager. However, at 32, he is a player on the decline.
Still, Acuna knows La Liga well by now and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Nou Camp if Xavi can devise a way to secure his services on loan this month. The South American full-back would add more quality and depth to Barca‘s squad and might help the Catalan club challenge across all fronts in the second half of this La Liga campaign.
In our opinion, Xavi should consider arranging a loan move for Acuna before the end of this January transfer window.
