Rogers’ Impressive Form In The EFL Championship
The 21-year-old is having a fine campaign at Middlesbrough as he has put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. Rogers has found the back of the net on six occasions and grabbed nine assists in 32 matches for his current employers this season in multiple competitions.
The talented youngster has been a reliable performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.2 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the EFL Championship. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball after making only 72.2% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Middlesbrough will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Aston Villa would find it difficult to convince the Championship club to part ways with their prized asset this winter.
Is Rogers A Good Fit For Aston Villa?
Rogers is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make a few driving runs out in the wide areas. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can create a few good chances for his teammates up top. He mainly operates as a left-sided wide player but can also play on the right wing or as a centre-forward ir needed.
Rogers would no doubt add more firepower to Aston Villa‘s attack. He is good enough to earn a permanent spot in Unai Emery’s first team at Villa Park. At 21, the best is yet to come from the talented wide player as long as he continues to mature as a footballer in the coming years.
Hence, Rogers would be a great fit for the West Midlands club‘s needs in the long run. However, it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his good form in top-flight football if the Villans manage to get him on board before the end of this January transfer period.
