In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Ben Jacobs claimed that Aston Villa have joined the race for Chelsea centre-forward Armando Broja. Jacobs said,
“Aston Villa are another new club that I can mention that should be considered in this conversation. Wolves, Fulham and West Ham are also among the suitors, but there is a big difference between the suitors’ valuation and what they think is possible from any informal enquiries versus the number that Chelsea are putting out there through sources.
“The Chelsea number may be £50million, with the Rasmus Hojlund transfer used as a yardstick, but everyone accepts that the Hojlund fee had a Manchester United tax on it.
“That was much higher than Manchester United wanted to pay. Hojlund was seen as a €60million or €70million player, but the final fee was much closer to €90million.”
Broja’s Season At Chelsea So Far
The Albanian striker has proven his worth at times for the Blues up top despite being sidelined for a lot of games this season because of injury. Broja has found the back of the net on two occasions and picked up one assist in 17 matches for Chelsea during this campaign across all competitions.
The 22-year-old has made most his appearances off the bench which could be why is only averaging 1.0 shots and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the final third as evidenced by pass completion rate of 89.2% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Broja’s current contract at Stamford Bridge will run out in the summer of 2028. Therfore, the Villans have to launch a convincing offer if they area serious about winning the race to land the Chelsea forward before the end of this month.
Should Aston Villa Snap Broja Up?
Broja can engineer some space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He can be a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing regularly on the pitch. The Albanian sensation can even create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third
Broja would no doubt add more pace and goals to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s attack. He could even go on to form a productive partnership with Ollie Watkins at the West Midlands club in the coming seasons.
With all things considered, the Villans would be wise to go all out snap Borja up before the end of this winter transfer window.
