In a recent report, CalcioNapoli24 mentioned that Arsenal have concrete interest in Napoli centre-forward Victor Osimhen. It has been stated that the Gunners are eyeing a move to land the Nigerian talent this year.
Osimhen’s Good Form In Serie A This Season
Osimhen has enjoyed a decent season at the Naples club after putting in a handful of productive displays as the spearhead of their attack. The 25-year-old has banged in eight goals and earned three assists in 18 matches for Napoli this season across all fronts.
The Nigerian sensation has led the line well for the Italian outfit as he is averaging 3.3 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution after making 71.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Osimhen is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2026. Hence, the Gunners would have to pay a big fee if they are serious about recruiting him this month or at the end of this campaign.
Will Osimhen Be A Dream Signing For Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta?
Osimhen excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He is a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can create the odd chance for his teammates to score. The Nigeria international is a powerful runner with the ball as well but needs to work on improving his link-up play up top. However, he is yet to prove his worth outside Italian football.
We can expect Osimhen to inject more goals into Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s frontline. He would be an upgrade over Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah at the North London club and might help the Gunners challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons.
At 25, Osimhen has his prime years ahead of him which makes him a good option for Arteta to consider this January or next summer. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the high intensity of English football.
All in all, Osimhen would be a dream signing for the Gunners to pull off before the end of this month as he could help them compete for the Premier League title this season.
