In a recent report, L’Equipe claimed that Arsenal could move in for Angers youngster Jean-Matteo Bahoya. It has been stated that the Gunners are keeping tabs on the French attacker ahead of a potential move for him in the future.
Bahoya’s Impressive Rise In French Football
The 18-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Angers and did well to break out as a first-team starter for them last year. Bahoya has already made 32 senior appearances for the French club thus far, scoring five goals and grabbing a couple of assists on all fronts.
The French sensation has caught the eye with his performances in the final third. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth as a consistent performer at the highest level.
His current contract at Angers will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for Arsenal to sign him on the cheap this year.
Arsenal Could Move In For Bahoya: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Bahoya can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create the odd chance for his teammates in the attacking end of the field and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. The French whizkid deserves credit for adding a few goals and assists to his game. However, he is still quite inexperienced and would need time to adapt to life in top-flight football.
At 18, Bahoya has the potential to become a generational talent. Hence, he would be a great, long-term signing for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to pull off this year. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physicality of English football if the London outfit manage to bring him on board this year.
Bahoyo is no doubt a prospect to watch out for in the future. Hence, the Gunners should focus on getting a deal done for him this winter or at the end of this campaign. However, the North London club would have to be patient with his progress as the gifted attacker might need some time to adapt to life in the English capital.
