In a recent edition of The Arsenal Beat podcast, Sky Sports’ Gary Cotterill revealed that Arsenal are keeping a keen eye on Juventus forward Dusan Vlahvoic. Cotterill said,
“Not Ivan Toney because I don’t think Brentford will sell him in January. Another player though we know Mikel Arteta is a fan of is Dusan Vlahovic. Juventus wanted £50m, but that was too steep for Arsenal, but Juventus have financial problems. They would listen to a cash-plus-player offer and there are also these tax rules in Italy which is something for them to consider.”
Vlahovic’s Recent Form In Italian Football
The 23-year-old is having an up-and-down campaign at the Allianz Stadium but has put in a series of impressive displays as the focal point of Juve’s attack. Vlahovic has banged in six goals and grabbed a couple of assists in 16 matches for the Italian outfit this season on all fronts.
The Serbian striker has led the line for the Turin outfit and deserves some credit for averaging 2.9 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball in the final third based on his pass success rate of 71.6% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Vlahovic A Good Choice For Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta?
Vlahovic is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to create some decent openings for others around him and can be quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty box. However, the Serbian forward has to figure out a way to be more ruthless in front of the opposition goal.
We can expect Vlahovic to add more firepower to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta‘s attack. He has what it takes to offer some serious competition for Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah at the North London club in the coming seasons.
At 23, Vlahovic has his best years ahead of him which makes him a great choice for the Gunners to consider before the end of this winter transfer window. However, only time will tell whether the Serbia international can make a smooth transition to life in England.
