Newcastle United will clash heads with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this Saturday afternoon as they try to secure a victory on the road in the FA Cup. The Magpies suffered a tough 4-2 defeat away at Liverpool recently which has drained their confidence ahead of this game.
Eddie Howe will opt for the 4-3-3 formation and could be inclined to name a strong first XI for this cup clash. Both Miguel Almiron and Kieran Trippier are expected to play from the start of this FA Cup game.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Sunderland
Defence
Martin Dubravka will feature in between the sticks for the Magpies after conceding four goals in his last appearance. Sven Botman will function alongside Fabian Schar at the centre of the Newcastle backline as they try to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Kieran Trippier will get a chance to shine at right-back while Dan Burn hopes to put in a productive performance as the left-back. Both of them would be eager to get forward and join in on the attack at every chance they get.
Jamaal Lascelles will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Sean Longstaff will make up Howe’s midfield. Their main focus would be to get a stranglehold in the game at the centre of the park and engineer some decent chances for their teammates up top.
Lewis Miley will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if Howe opts to call upon his services.
Attack
Anthony Gordon will get a chance to impress on the left flank while Miguel Almiron hopes to give a good account of himself as the right-sided wide player. Alexander Isak will lead the line for the Magpies on the offensive end of the field. He would be eager to cause problems for the Sunderland defenders and make a difference for Newcastle in this Tyne-Wear derby.
Lewis Hall and Matt Ritchie will make up the numbers on the bench and might come on in the final quarter of the game if needed.
