Barcelona will face off against Unionistas at the Campo de Futbol Reina Sofía Stadium this Thursday night as they try to secure a victory on the road in the Copa del Rey. The Catalan club suffered a poor 4-1 loss at the hands of Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final recently, so they would be eager to bounce back by securing a positive result in midweek.
Xavi will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could make some tweaks to his starting XI for this game. Joao Felix, Hector Fort and Lamine Yamal will get a chance to impress from the start of this game.
4-2-3-1 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Unionistas
Defence
Inaki Pena will play in goal for the Catalan club after shipping in four goals in his last appearance. Jules Kounde will hope to put in a much-improved defensive performance alongside Andreas Christensen at the heart of Xavi’s defence as they look to keep the home team frustrated during the game.
Hector Fort will fill in as the right-back while Alejandro Balde looks to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back. Xavi will give both of them the license to get forward and join in on the attack at every chance they get.
Midfield
Frenkie de Jong and Pedri will operate as the holding midfielders for Barcelona. They would be eager to move the ball well and engineer enough clear-cut chances in the final third.
The gifted trio of Joao Felix, Ilkay Gundogan and Lamine Yamal will play just ahead of them as part of Xavi’s attack. All three of them need to link up play in the opponent’s half if Barca are to secure a convincing win this Thursday night.
Oriol Romeu has to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to influence the game in the second half if Xavi opts to call upon his services.
Attack
Robert Lewandowski will lead the line for the Catalan club in the attacking end of the field. He managed to score against Real Madrid which should give him some confidence going into this cup game in midweek.
