In a recent report, talkSPORT mentioned that West Ham United have identified Burnley defender Jordan Beyer as a target for the upcoming winter transfer window. It is believed that the Hammers have enquired about the German centre-back ahead of a potential move next year.
Beyer’s Impressive Run Of Form In The Premier League
Beyer has enjoyed a solid campaign at Turf Moor as he has put in a handful of impressive displays for the Clarets on the defensive end of the field. The German sensation has made ten appearances for his current employers this season, picking up one assist in the process across all competitions.
The 23-year-old has given a good account of himself when defending inside his half and deserves credit for averaging 2.5 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 4.2 clearances per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been careful when distributing possession from the back based on his pass completion rate of 91.6% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Lancashire club will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for West Ham to land him on the cheap this January or at the end of this season.
Will Beyer Be A Good Option For West Ham United?
Beyer is a tough-tackling defender who can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. The German talent can even play his way out from the back. He is primarily a central defender but can also function as a right-back if asked to do so.
We can expect Beyer to bring more bite and steel to West Ham boss David Moyes’ defence. He has what it takes to secure a regular starting spot at the London Stadium this season and could help the East London club challenge across all fronts in the future.
At 23, the future looks quite promising for Beyer as long as he continues to improve with each season. He will undeniably be an excellent option for the Hammers to consider in 2024. Beyer already knows the Premier League well by now and won’t take much time to settle into life in London.
