Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno got into a controversial altercation with a Bournemouth ball boy and it has gone viral. Bournemouth was leading 2-0, and Leno wanted to kick the ball as soon as possible. He didn’t like how slowly the ballboy returned the ball, so Leno grabbed it and shoved him.
Bernd Leno involved in controversial incident
During Fulham‘s game against Bournemouth on Boxing Day, Bernd Leno had a ugly moment with a young ball boy. Leno got upset because he thought the ball boys were wasting time at Vitality Stadium in the second half of their Premier League match. In the first half, Justin Kluivert scored for the home team with a great assist from Alex Scott.
After that, Dominic Solanke scored again for Bournemouth in the second half from the penalty spot. Fulham couldn’t make good chances to score in the second part of the game as they tried to catch up. The frustration reached a point where Leno pushed a young ball boy while trying to get the ball for a goal kick.
After telling the kid to throw the ball to him, Leno took it from him and pushed him in the chest. This made the Bournemouth fans mad, and they booed Leno whenever he touched the ball for a few minutes. Leno understood he did something wrong and apologized to the kid and the home fans. To prevent more problems, they told the ball boy to sit in the stands instead of by the side of the pitch.

“Bernd Leno is out of order. He shouldn’t put his hand on the ballboy. The ballboys are told if their team is winning, you slow the game down. We all know this. Just go and grab the ball, you don’t need to put your hand on his chest,” Kevin Campbell said about the incident.
Referee Graham Scott had to tell the home team to stop time wasting, as complained by Fulham players. However, despite the warning, the home team managed to score again. Luis Sinisterra scored a superb goal, securing a 3-0 victory for Andoni Iraola‘s team.
