In a recent report, TuttoJuve stated that Tottenham Hotspur have launched a move to sign Juventus talent Samuel Iling-Junior. It has been mentioned that Spurs have made a move to bring the English winger to North London next year.
Iling-Junior’s Recent Form In Italian Football
Iling-Junior has struggled to earn regular game time at the Allianz Stadium this season but has put in a couple of eye-catching performances for Juve in the final third. The English wide player has made just four appearances for the Turin outfit during this campaign, securing one assist in the process across various competitions.
The 20-year-old has made all of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.5 shots and 0.3 key passes per game in Serie A. However, he has been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 80% of his attempted passes in the Italian top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2025. Therefore, Spurs could potentially land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Is Iling-Junior A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?
Iling-Junior can engineer some space for himself to get some shots in at goal. He can even create the odd chance from his teammates from the wide areas when he is playing well on the pitch. The English prospect is primarily a left-winger but can also operate as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect Iling-Junior to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s frontline. He is good enough to compete with Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski for a regular starting spot at the North London club next season.
At 20, Iling-Junior has the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday. Thus, Postecoglu should try everything in his power to get him on board in 2024.
The former Chelsea youth player will only get better as he matures as a footballer in the coming years. Hence, he would be a great, long-term option for Spurs to pursue next summer as long as they can get him for a fair price.
