In a recent report, Defensa Central mentioned that Real Madrid have set their sights on Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Belgium international next year.
Tielemans’ Up And Down Season In English Football
Tielemans is having a campaign of mixed emotions as he has often found himself on Unai Emery’s bench but has done well to prove his worth as a first-team starter at the West Midlands club in recent weeks. The Belgian talent has scored one goal and grabbed four assists in 24 matches for the Villans this season across all competitions.
The 26-year-old has made most of his appearances off the bench which could be why is only averaging 0.9 tackles, 0.4 interceptions, 0.2 clearances, 0.3 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from midfield after completing 83.3% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Villa Park will run out in 2027 which could make it difficult for Real Madrid to land him on a cut-price deal next year.
Should Real Madrid Move In For Tielemans In 2024?
Tielemans can get stuck in with some solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition. He can shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. The Belgian sensation is a good dribbler with the ball as well. Plus, he can pass the ball accurately in the opponent’s half.
We can expect Tielemans to bring more quality to Real Madrid‘s squad. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming seasons. However, it remains to be seen whether Tielemans can make a smooth transition to life at the Madrid club.
At 26, the Belgium international is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a good option for Los Blancos to consider in 2024. Hence, it makes sense for Real Madrid to move in for the Aston Villa playmaker this winter or at the end of this campaign.
