In a recent report, Calciomercato claimed that Real Madrid are showing interest in AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez. It has been stated that Los Blancos have identified the French left-back as a target ahead of a potential move for him next year.
Hernandez’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italian Football
Hernandez is having a decent campaign at San Siro after putting in a run of impressive displays on the left side of AC Milan’s defence. The 26-year-old has scored two goals and secured two assists in 20 matches for the Italian club this season across all fronts.
The French talent has been a decent performer in both halves based on his average of 0.9 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.4 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after making 86.7% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract with the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2026. Hence, Los Blancos will have to launch a big move if they are serious about recruiting the French defensive ace next year.
Should Real Madrid Snap Hernandez Up Next Year?
Hernandez is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. Hernandez is primarily a left-back but can also operate as a centre-back or as a left-winger if needed.
The Frenchman can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. He is a decent dribbler with the ball as well on the left flank.
We can expect Hernandez to add more quality and depth to Real Madrid‘s match-day squad. He would also help the Madrid club challenge across all fronts in the coming seasons. Thus, it makes sense for Los Blancos to try everything they can to snap Hernandez up this January or at the end of this campaign. He already knows the Madrid club well from his previous loan spell with them and won’t take much time to adjust to life in the Spanish capital.
