In a recent report, Inter Live stated that Real Madrid are keen on recruiting Tottenham Hotspur ace Emerson Royal. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are planning to launch a move for the Brazilian full-back in the future.
Emerson’s Recent Form In The Premier League
The 24-year-old has struggled to earn regular first-team starts at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season but has served as an important member of Angelos Postecoglu’s match-day squad. Emerson has made 12 appearances for Spurs during this campaign, finding the back of the net once across various competitions.
The Sao Paulo-born sensation has caught the eye at times by averaging 1.1 tackles, 0.5 interceptions and 2.5 clearances per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been careful when distributing possession from the back after making 92.2% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Emerson is under contract at the North London club until the summer of 2026 which could make it difficult for Real Madrid to land him on the cheap next year.
Should Real Madrid Move In For Emerson Royal?
Emerson is a tough-tackling full-back who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when needed and excels at playing his way out from inside his half.
The Brazilian talent is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a central defender if told to do so by his manager. He might welcome a move to Real Madrid in search of more first-team starts in the coming seasons.
We can expect Emerson to bring more quality to Los Blancos‘ match-day squad. He would be a good replacement for Dani Carvajal at the Madrid club. At 24, Emerson has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for Real Madrid to consider this January or at the end of this campaign.
The Brazilian sensation already knows La Liga well from his time at Barcelona and Real Betis, so he won’t take much time to settle into life at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. With all things considered, Real Madrid would be wise to move in for Emerson in the not-too-distant future.
