Chelsea’s boss, Mauricio Pochettino, thinks highly of new player Cole Palmer. He said Palmer is like the ex-Real Madrid player Angel Di Maria. Palmer, who is 20 years old, came to Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer for £42.5 million and is considered one of the team’s top signings under Todd Boehly’s co-ownership.
Palmer scored six goals and made five assists in 18 games. People like how quick and creative he is. Pochettino believes he could become like Argentina’s Di Maria, who won the World Cup. The Chelsea boss talked about Palmer’s big potential.
“Cole Palmer has been excellent so far. He has the capacity and the potential to be close to Angel Di Maria… with time. Of course he’s still far away, but this type of player that can link, playmaker, have the capacity to score, assist,” Pochettino said.

“Always you expect when you sign a player, you expect that they perform in the best way. But of course he’s performing really well from Day 1, he’s adapted very well to the club, to the team-mates, to Chelsea life, and yes it’s amazing, because always you expect the player can perform well, but he’s doing excellent,” he added.
Before coming to Chelsea, Palmer didn’t play much at City. But, he played really well in some games, like in City’s UEFA Super Cup win against Sevilla. Pochettino saying Palmer is like Di Maria is a big compliment for the English player. Di Maria is considered one of the best creative players in European football history.
Di Maria, who is 35 years old, did really well at Real Madrid, scoring 36 goals and making 85 assists in 190 games. Pochettino was his coach at Paris Saint-Germain, and during that time, Di Maria scored seven goals and had 18 assists in 57 games under him.
