In a recent report, Bolavip stated that Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Palmeiras youngster Riquelme Filipi. It has been mentioned that the Magpies are monitoring the progress of the Brazilian winger ahead of a potential move for him in the future.
Riquelme’s Impressive Rise In Brazilian Football
Riquelme has come through the youth levels of Palmeiras and has done well to catch the eye with his performances back in his homeland. He is currently amongst the best young players in Brazilian football.
The 17-year-old deserves a ton of credit for establishing himself as an important member of Palmeiras’ Under-20 team. Riquelme has made six appearances for them so far.
His current contract at the Brazilian club will expire in October 2025. Hence, Newcastle United would be wise to try and arrange a cut-price move for him this January or at the end of this campaign.
Newcastle United Are Keeping Tabs On Riquelme: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Riquelme is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can be a hard man to stop when he is running at full speed out in the wide areas. He can shoot the ball purely from long range and can create the odd chance for his teammates up top. However, the Brazilian starlet is still quite raw and would need time before he is ready for first-team football.
Still, it makes sense for Newcastle to try and sign him on the cheap next year. At 17, Riquelme is a star in the making, so Eddie Howe should focus on going all out to bring the gifted whizkid to St. James’ Park.
However, Riquelme would need time to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football. Hence, the Magpies should only move in for him if they are willing to be patient with his development.
