In a recent report, Fussball Transfers mentioned that Newcastle United are among the clubs hoping to land Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy. It is believed that the Magpies are eyeing a move for the Guinean talent who prefers a move to St. James’ Park.
Guirassy’s Impressive Form In Bundesliga
Guirassy has enjoyed a rich vein of form at the German club this season as he has put in several match-winning displays for them in the final third. The 27-year-old has participated in 16 matches for Stuttgart during this campaign, scoring 19 goals and earning two assists across multiple competitions.
The Arles-born talent has led the line well by averaging 3.4 shots, 1.7 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 82.4% in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Stuttgart will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap next year.
Is Guirassy The Right Fit For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?
Guirassy has proven himself to be a capable finisher in the final third. He can create a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. Guirassy is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if required.
The Guinean sensation has got the vision to orchestrate some decent chances in and around the opponent’s penalty box. He is a tidy passer of the ball as well and can make some driving runs with the ball.
We can expect Guirassy to bring more goals to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s attack. He has what it takes to rival Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak for a regular starting spot at St. James’ Park over the next few years.
At 27, Guirassy is about to enter his prime which makes him a great fit for Newcastle‘s needs at the moment. He is good enough to help the Tyneside club compete for some major trophies in the future. Therefore, Howe should focus on getting a deal done for him in the upcoming winter transfer window or at the end of this campaign.
