Getafe wants to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and has made an offer that would set a new record for the club. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has yet to make a decision. Some speculate that Real Madrid would also be interested in Greenwood. Greenwood, 22, went on loan to Getafe in the summer after Manchester United chose to let him play for another club.
Getafe wants to permanently sign Mason Greenwood
Manchester United and INEOS said no to a £40 million offer from Getafe for Mason Greenwood. The Sun says Manchester United doesn’t want Greenwood to join Getafe permanently in January. Sir Jim Ratcliffe from INEOS is in charge of deciding about players, and he plans to decide on Greenwood at the end of the season.
Greenwood has been playing with Getafe since September because Manchester United chose not to bring him back to Erik ten Hag’s main team. In February, he was declared not guilty of charges related to sexual assault. Some people thought he might go back to United, but many people got upset, so the club decided to send him to another team instead of bringing him back.

He is doing well for Jose Bordalas’ team. He scored five goals and gave four assists in 15 games in different competitions. Manchester United might have to sell Greenwood soon to keep his value because his contract ends in 2025. Next year, he’ll only have one more year on his contract, and the big Premier League team will have to figure out what to do with him.
As per the latest reports, big teams in La Liga, like Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, are interested in getting him. People think there’s no chance for him to go back to Manchester United. Other teams want to benefit from this situation, especially because his contract with Manchester United will be almost done in 2024.
Before Greenwood got in trouble in January 2022, he played 129 times for Manchester United, scoring 35 goals and helping with 12 assists. Manchester United is having a hard time scoring goals this season because of injuries and some attackers not playing well.
