In a recent interview with Kooora, Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola backed Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to be a good fit for Real Madrid. Zola said,
“There are many big names such as [Kylian] Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and even Osimhen, who I see as a perfect fit for Real Madrid,”
Osimhen’s Impressive Numbers In Italian Football This Season
Osimhen has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Italian club as he has put in a run of impressive displays for them on the attacking end of the field. The 24-year-old has found the back of the net six times and earned two assists in 12 matches for Napoli this season across all competitions.
The Nigerian sensation has led the line well and deserves some credit for averaging 3.8 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He was even accurate when distributing possession in the final third based on his pass success rate of 75.9% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the London Stadium will run out in the summer of 2025 which could open the door for Real Madrid to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.
Should Real Madrid Move In For Osimhen?
Osimhen excels at creating a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can create the odd chance for his teammates up top. The Nigerian talent is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opposition penalty box.
We can expect Osimhen to bring more goals to Real Madrid‘s frontline. He is good enough to earn a regular starting spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming years. At 24, the Nigeria international will only get better with each year which makes him a perfect fit for Los Blancos‘ needs at the moment.
Thus, it makes sense for the Madrid giants to move in for Osimhen this January or at the end of this campaign. However, it remains to be seen whether the Nigerian sensation can make a smooth transition to life in Spanish football if Real Madrid decide to sign him next year.
