Newcastle United entertained AC Milan at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they looked to earn a good result at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Magpies made a decent start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 33rd minute when Joelinton got his name on the scoresheet. Eddie Howe’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
However, Christian Pulisic equalised for the visitors in the 59th minute before Samuel Chukwueze completed the turnaround in the 84th minute when he scored with a good finish. The contest ended with the Tyneside club suffering a tough 2-1 defeat in front of their home fans which knocked them out of Europe.
Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player fared during the match against AC Milan.
GK: Martin Dubravka – 5.5/10
Dubravka failed to make a save in the game and would be disappointed after conceding twice in the second half.
RB: Kieran Trippier – 7/10
He was far from convincing at the back but made some driving runs with the ball on the right flank.
CB: Jamaal Lascelles – 6/10
Lascelles kept things solid when defending inside his half in the first 45 minutes. However, he won’t be happy with his second-half performance tonight.
CB: Fabian Schar – 6/10
He made a few crucial clearances at the back and was strong in the air. However, it was not enough tonight.
LB: Tino Livramento – 7/10
He did his fair share of defending and had a few lively moments in the Milan half.
CM: Lewis Miley – 7/10
Miley came back to defend when needed and was a bright presence on the ball. He picked up an assist for setting up Joelinton’s goal in the first half.
CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 6.5/10
He anchored the midfield well and managed to create some decent chances in the final third.
CM: Joelinton – 8/10
Joelinton earned the ball back once and was a constant menace in the opponent’s half. He scored Newcastle’s only goal in the 33rd minute.
RW: Miguel Almiron – 6.5/10
He was not shy of having a strike at goal but failed to take any of his chances.
ST: Callum Wilson – 6/10
Wilson managed to be a threat at times but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
LW: Anthony Gordon – 6/10
He produced a lackluster display in the final third.

ST: Alexander Isak – 6/10
He made one key chance up top.
