They claimed that the rules of UEFA and FIFA, which govern competitions such as the Super League, violate union law. This means that these football authorities cannot exert complete control and prevent the formation of the Super League. This decision has enraged Emmanuel Petit.
After the decision, there’s been a lot of noise in the football world, and everyone is sharing what they think. One person who’s been speaking out is Emmanuel Petit, the champion from 1998. It’s clear that he really doesn’t like the idea of the Super League.
Emmanuel Petit slams the Super League verdict

Just when we thought the imaginative Super League idea was over, the decision from the European Union Court of Justice on Thursday changed things. The court supported the Champions League competition that went against UEFA, saying UEFA had done wrong. However, not everyone agrees with the new project suggested by A22 Sports. On Friday, Emmanuel Petit spoke out against the Super League, saying he might even quit football because of it. He also criticized Florentino Perez, the president of Madrid and one of the main people behind this exclusive league.
“They have already killed part of football. They are destroying football, it’s a football genocide. I tell you: if the Super League happens with 64 clubs, I will stop having any direct or distant link with football,” Petit said.
“Already I no longer recognise myself in the world of football for a very long time but today, if it goes in that direction, it’s over. I’m stopping all my activities in football,” he added.

Petit then blasted Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
“Florentino Perez, who is he kidding? His video, he puts himself on stage in front of his trophies, he spits on UEFA but behind him he uses what allowed him to build the legend of this club , railed the former Arsenal player in Rothen ignites this Friday on RMC . Nobody told him ‘oh dad, it’s actually UEFA!’ (…) I hope they will implement this project to see how ridiculous it becomes. I wish them good luck in facing the revolt of their supporters and in trying to create these three leagues with 64 clubs. 64 clubs? I say it, if that happens, I will stop having any direct or distant link with football,” he further added.
