Liverpool will entertain West Ham United at Anfield this Wednesday night as they look to secure a good result in the quarterfinal stage of the EFL Cup. The Reds were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Manchester United recently, so they would be eager to return to winning ways versus the Hammers this week.
Jurgen Klopp will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation once again and is expected to make a few changes to his first XI for this game. Cody Gakpo could get the nod to lead the line for the Merseyside club in the final third.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face West Ham United
Defence
Caoimhin Kelleher will feature in between the sticks for the Reds as he looks to keep a clean sheet at Anfield. Jarell Quansah will resume his defensive partnership with Virgil Van Dijk at the centre of Liverpool’s backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Joe Gomez will operate as the right-back while Kostas Tsimikas looks to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and express themselves in the West Ham half.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate will be rested on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott will make up Liverpool’s midfield. Their main job would be to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them need to be at the top of their game if the Reds want to secure a convincing win in midweek.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Luis Diaz will try to prove his worth on the left flank while Mohamed Salah hopes to make a difference as the right-sided wide player. Cody Gakpo is expected to spearhead Klopp’s attack up top. He would be eager to impress after starting on the bench against Man United last weekend.
Darwin Nunez will drop to the bench and might come on in the latter stages of the game if Liverpool are in need of a goal by then.
