In a recent segment on Patreon, journalist Alan Nixon mentioned that Everton are keeping a keen eye on Olympique Marseille forward Iliman Ndiaye. It is understood that the Toffees are showing interest in acquiring the services of the Senegalese striker.
Ndiaye’s Impressive Rise In French Football
Ndiaye has caught the eye at times with his performances as the focal point of Marseille’s attack. The 23-year-old has found the back of the net once and earned three assists in 22 matches for the French outfit this season across various competitions.
The French talent has proven his worth in the final third by averaging 1.1 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been tidy with his link-up play on the offensive end of the field based on his pass completion rate of 81.1% in the French top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Marseille will run out in the summer of 2028. Therefore, Everton will have to make a big offer if they are serious about recruiting Ndiaye next year.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Move In For Ndiaye?
Ndiaye can create some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for others around him and can make some dangerous runs with the ball in the final third.
We can expect Ndiaye to bring more firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche‘s frontline. He would also offer some serious competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto at Goodison Park in the future.
At 23, Ndiaye has got a bright future ahead of him as long as he continues to mature as a footballer in the coming seasons. Thus, it is only logical for the Toffees to move in for him in 2024 as he could help them compete for a top-half finish in the Premier League. However, the jury is still out on whether Ndiaye can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of English football if the Merseyside club can find a way to get a deal done for him this winter or at the end of this campaign.
