It’s absolute carnage at Celtic Park as Celtic lose 2-0 at home to Hearts. The Edinburgh side didn’t give Celtic any chance throughout the game and the 2-0 result was a fair reflection of the game.
But it’s not an auspicious start to the Brendan Rodgers era with calls asking for his sacking already growing loud before the game. This result will only harden those Celtic fans’ resolve who want Rodgers out.
It was a gutless performance at home as the door is wide open for Rangers to take advantage in the league. The destiny of the league is well and truly in Rangers’ hand from this point forward. Currently Rangers are 5 points behind Celtic in the league table having played 2 matches less. Obviously Rangers play Aberdeen in the League Cup final tomorrow but they will get a huge change to play catch up with the leaders midweek when the face St Johnstone.
The Celtic fans were said to be fighting each other although the exact cause is yet to be known. It was not an isolated incident as several fans were identified by the Celtic stewards and escorted off the grounds. Not at all pretty scenes as even BBC reported on the incident.
Already with calls for sacking the board (nothing new here to be honest) coming from the fans, you have to wonder what the scenes will be later tonight and tomorrow.
Surely the board will back Brendan Rodgers here and that will only make the resentment grow among the fans. It’s fair to say that while opinion is split on Rodgers, that’s definitely not the case with the board. Wonder what the bloggers think, lol!
Expect protests and lots of them in front of Celtic Park in the coming days.
It suddenly feels like we are back in December of 2020 yet again.
