Sir Jim Ratcliffe has agreed to buy a minority stake in Manchester United for approximately $1.3 billion. This puts an end to a long period of doubt about who owns the club. They held a meeting just before Christmas to seal the sale, which valued the club at about $6.3 billion when debts were factored in. United star Bruno Fernandes recently had his say about this.
Bruno Fernandes opens up about the new Manchester United deal
Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, said that unless Sir Jim Ratcliffe spends money on future player transfers, his joining the team won’t make much of a difference.
Fernandes told the boss from INEOS that if he wants to make a big difference at United, he has to spend money on new players. When he was asked how the players felt about the recent news, Bruno shared his thoughts.
“Not much, honestly because it’s not going to change anything on the pitch apart from if they come in and they bring some new players in, they put some money in the club and bring some players in that can make a difference for us. OK apart from that it’s up to us on the pitch to change that and change that difference that we need, because obviously with social media all the newspapers we see everything. It’s impossible not to see everything,” Bruno replied.
“We know what the club is going through at the moment but it’s not going to change anything on the pitch. We have to focus on ourselves and focus on the team, and focus on what we can control which is ourselves and our performance,” he added.
