In a recent report, UOL mentioned that Barcelona are leading the race for Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian. It has been stated that the Catalan club are the favorites to acquire the services of the talented teenager.
Estevao’s Rapid Rise In Brazilian Football
Estevao has come through the youth ranks of Cruzeiro before he joined Palmeiras’ youth set-up in 2021. The 16-year-old has done well to break into the Brazilian club’s senior team after appearing in a league match for them recently.
The gifted wide player has caught the eye at times with his performances out in the wide areas. He has even established himself as a reliable performer for Palmeiras’ Under-20 team and is currently amongst the best young players in Brazilian football.
His current contract at the Brazilian club will run out in the summer of 2026 which could make it tough for Barca to sign him on the cheap next year. Still, Xavi should think about recruiting Estevao as he would be a great signing for the Catalan club in the long run.

Estevao is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make the odd chance for his teammates in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. The Brazilian youngster can shoot the ball with power from long range. He mainly operates as a right-winger but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. However, the Palmeiras prospect is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in top-flight football.
At 16, Estevao has the potential to become a future star at the highest level. Hence, Barcelona boss Xavi would do well to snap him up in 2024. Estevao would no doubt enhance the quality of Barca‘s youth academy, La Masia. Furthermore, he has the ceiling to become a future starter at the Nou Camp as long as he continues to improve with each season.
Estevao is no doubt a prospect to watch out for in the future which makes him a great, long-term option for Xavi to pursue next year. Therefore, Barca should try everything they can to sign the teen winger soon.
