West Ham United will lock horns with Liverpool at Anfield this Wednesday night as they try to secure a good result on the road in the quarterfinal stage of the EFL Cup. The Hammers managed to earn a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers recently which should give them a ton of confidence ahead of this cup game in midweek.
David Moyes will set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to name a strong first XI for this game. Alphonso Areola and Pablo Fornals could both get a chance to play from the start of this clash at Merseyside.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Liverpool
Defence
Alphonso Areola will get a chance to impress in goal for the East London club. Kurt Zouma will continue to function alongside Nayef Aguerd at the centre of the West Ham defence as they hope to keep the opposition attackers frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.
Vladimir Coufal will get a chance to impress as the right-back while Emerson Palmieri hopes to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to perform their defensive duties well if West Ham want to keep things solid at the back this week.
Thilo Kehrer and Aaron Cresswell will be available for selection on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek will anchor the midfield for the London outfit as they try to give a good account of themselves at the centre of the park. The gifted trio of Lucas Paqueta, Pablo Fornals and Mohammed Kudus will play just ahead of them as part of Moyes’ attack. All three of them need to combine well in the opponent’s half if the Hammers are to pose a threat on the counter.
Said Benrahma will be named on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Jarrod Bowen will lead the charge for David Moyes’ side up top. He would be eager to put his pace to good use when West Ham are trying to find holes in the Liverpool defence on the counter.
Divin Mubama will make up the numbers on the bench.
