Chelsea will entertain Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night as they look to secure a victory in the quarter-final stage of the EFL Cup. The Blues managed to earn a solid 2-0 win over Sheffield United recently which should keep them in good spirits ahead of this cup game in midweek.
Mauricio Pochettino will opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation once again and could be inclined to name a strong team for this game. Armando Broja will once again lead the line for the West London club up top.
4-2-3-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Dorde Petrovic will get another start in goal for the London outfit after keeping a clean sheet in his last appearance. Axel Disasi will get a chance to shine alongside Benoit Badiashile at the centre of the Chelsea backline as they look to keep things solid on the defensive end of the field during the game.
Malo Gusto will try to catch the eye as the right-back while Iaan Maatsen fills in on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get a chance to get forward and express themselves in the Newcastle half.
Thiago Silva will be rested on the bench as he provides cover for the centre-half positions.
Midfield
Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo will function as the holding midfielders as they look to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer will play just ahead of them as part of Pochettino’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if they want to create enough opportunities for the Blues to win this contest.
Mykhailo Mudryk will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if required.
Attack
Armando Broja will spearhead Chelsea’s attack on the offensive end of the field. He has to figure out a way to pose a threat inside the Newcastle penalty box.
Nicolas Jackson will be named on the bench as he awaits his chance to make an impact in the final quarter of the game if the Blues are in need of a goal by then.
