In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that West Ham United are keeping a keen eye on Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza. It has been revealed that the Hammers are showing interest in recruiting the Spanish full-back next year.
Mingueza’s Impressive Form In La Liga This Season
Mingueza is enjoying a decent campaign at the Spanish capital as he has managed to produce a handful of solid displays for them on the defensive third of the pitch. The 24-year-old has scored one goal and grabbed a couple of assists in 14 matches for his current employers this season in multiple competitions.
The Spanish full-back has been a solid presence when defending inside his half based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.2 shots, 1.6 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even distributed the ball accurately from the right flank after making 78.3% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Celta Vigo will expire in the summer of 2026 which would make it difficult for West Ham to get a deal done for him on the cheap in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Move In For Mingueza?
Mingueza is a decent tackler of the ball and can make life difficult for the opposition inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when needed and can make a few timely interceptions for his team as well.
The Spaniard has a knack for creating some inviting chances for his teammates from the right flank. He can even make a few driving runs with the ball. Migueza has got a wealth of experience in Spanish football and could be a real asset in David Moyes’ squad at West Ham. He is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a central defender if asked to do so.
We can expect him to bring more bite and steel to the East London club‘s defence. At 24, Migueza will only get better in the coming seasons which makes him a worthy target for the Hammers to pursue this winter or at the end of this campaign.
