In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Porto striker Mehdi Taremi wants to join Real Madrid this January. It has been stated that the Iranian centre-forward fancies a move to join Los Blancos next year.
Taremi’s Decent Run Of Form In Portuguese Football
Taremi has proven his worth as a valuable presence in Porto’s squad during this campaign. He deserves some credit for putting in a run of productive displays for the Portuguese club in the final third. The Iran international has done well to feature in 13 matches for Porto this season, finding the back of the net on three occasions and earning three assists in various competitions.
The 31-year-old has been a reliable performer up top based on his average of 1.3 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. However, he needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution after completing only 74.5% of his attempted passes in the Portuguese first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Portuguese club will expire at the end of this campaign. Hence, it makes sense for Los Blancos to arrange a cut-price move for Taremi in the upcoming January transfer window.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Snap Taremi Up This January?
Taremi can create some space for himself to get a few shots in at goal. He has got the vision to orchestrate some meaningful openings for his teammates on the offensive end of the field.
The Iranian talent can even make a few clever runs with the ball. He is primarily a centre-forward but can also function as a left-sided winger if asked to do so by his manager.
Taremi would add more quality and depth to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s attack. He might even help Los Blancos challenge across all fronts in the coming years.
At 31, Taremi would serve as a decent acquisition for the Madrid giants in the short term. Thus, Ancelotti should focus on trying everything they can to snap him up when the transfer window commences this January or when he becomes a free agent next summer.
