In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Paul Brown revealed that Everton are unlikely to land Jack Harrison permanently when his loan spell comes to an end next summer. Brown said,
“It wouldn’t surprise me if Leeds were to ask for that. I suspect that in the current market, they do believe he’s worth that. But the problem is that he probably isn’t worth £30m to Everton because they don’t have £30m to spend on one player right now. Everything will depend on what happens with the takeover, the finances, whether Everton are punished, whether they stay in the Premier League. Everything is up in the air at the moment and it’s very hard to predict what kind of budget Everton will have. So I think by next summer, things will become clearer but I can’t see, in the current situation, Everton spending £30m on Jack Harrison.”
Harrison’s Impressive Loan Spell At Goodison Park So Far
The 26-year-old is having a decent loan spell at the Merseyside club as he managed to catch the eye at times for them in the final third. Harrison has banged in one goal and grabbed three assists in six matches for Everton in the Premier League.
The English sensation has been a reliable performer in the opposition half and deserves credit for averaging 1.0 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he needs to work on improving his ball distribution after completing just 66.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Do With Regards To Harrison?
Harrison is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to set up a few promising chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the pitch. He can shoot the ball with power from long range as well and has done well to contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals for Everton from the wide areas.
The English playmaker is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also function as a left-winger if told to do so. We can expect Harrison to continue playing a crucial role for the Toffees this season.
At 26, he is about to enter the peak stage of his playing career. Hence, it makes sense for Everton head coach Sean Dyche to try and find the funds to recruit Harrison permanently at the end of this season.
