Manchester City entertained Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a win at home in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola‘s men made a decent start to the contest and got their noses ahead in the 27th minute when Erling Haaland scored with a good strike. Man City went into the half-time interval 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Trent Alexander-Arnold equalised for the visitors in the 80th minute as the contest finished with the Mancunian side being held to a lackluster 1-1 draw at the Etihad.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player performed during the match against the Reds.
GK: Ederson – 7/10
The Brazilian keeper made a couple of solid saves at the back but could not do much about Alexander-Arnold’s finish in the second half.
CB: Kyle Walker – 6.5/10
He kept things solid at the back for most of the game and made one good chance going forward.
CB: Ruben Dias – 6.5/10
The Portuguese talent cleared the danger when needed but failed to secure a clean sheet.
CB: Nathan Ake – 7.5/10
Ake gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the pitch and managed to secure an assist for setting up Haaland’s goal.
CM: Rodri – 6.5/10
The Spaniard anchored the midfield well but failed to cause problems for the Liverpool defenders.
CM: Manuel Akanji – 6.5/10
He did his fair share of defending but offered very little in the final third.
RW: Phil Foden – 7/10
Foden came back to defend when needed and was a real threat in front of the opponent’s goal. However, there was no goal for him today.
CM: Julian Alvarez – 7/10
He got himself into some dangerous areas in the Liverpool half but failed to take any of his chances.
CM: Bernardo Silva – 7.5/10
Silva was a positive influence at both ends of the pitch.
LW: Jeremy Doku – 8.5/10
He caused all sorts of problems for the opposition defenders with his tireless running on the left flank. Doku did everything but score today.
ST: Erling Haaland – 7.5/10
Haaland was not shy of having a strike at goal and managed to score with a good finish in the 27th minute.
