According to a report from Football.London, Juventus standout Gleison Bremer, who’s caught the attention of Chelsea, has expressed his aspiration to eventually join the Premier League. Speaking to The Telegraph, he shared, “I admire a few central defenders in England who serve as role models for me.”
Bremer’s Impressive Campaign With Juventus So Far This Season
Bremer is having a solid campaign at the Allianz Stadium as he been an integral part of their defensive line up. The 26-year-old defender has managed to find the back of the net once while making 12 appearances for the Old Lady.
He has been a reliable performer in the heart of Juventus’ defence after averaging 1.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 4.4 clearances per game in the Serie A. He has also been careful when distributing the ball from the back after completing 87.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for the West London club to get him on board on a cut-price deal next year.
Does Bremer Suit Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea?
Bremer, a robust defender, exhibits astute anticipation to regain possession for his team defensively. When opponents press forward, he’s quick to clear the danger. Standing tall at 1.88m, his physicality aids in winning aerial duels.
This Brazilian talent excels in building play from his own half, aligning well with Mauricio Pochettino‘s footballing philosophy at Chelsea.
Anticipate Bremer fortifying the West London club’s defense, potentially elevating their quest for a top-four Premier League finish next season. He could also step in as a viable replacement for aging Thiago Silva, whose future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain.
At 26, Bremer nears his prime, presenting the Blues with an attractive prospect for next summer. However, his long-term contract at Juventus implies that Pochettino would need to make a substantial offer to secure his move to London.
