In a recent report, Soy Xeneize mentioned that Brighton and Hove Albion are keeping tabs on Boca Juniors winger Valentin Barco. It has been claimed that the Seagulls are monitoring the progress of the Argentine wide player ahead of a potential move for him in the future.
Barco’s Rapid Rise In Argentine Football
Barco has come through the youth ranks of Boca Juniors and has done well to establish himself as a first-team starter at the Argentine club. The 19-year-old featured in 35 matches for his current club this season, netting one goal and grabbing four assists in multiple competitions.
The Argentine winger has caught the eye with his contributions out in the wide areas as he is averaging 1.7 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.6 shots, 0.5 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game in Liga Profesional. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the left flank based on his pass success rate of 82% in the Argentine top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Argentine club will run out at the end of next year. Thus, Brighton could potentially sign him on a cut-price deal this winter or at the end of this campaign.
Brighton Are Keeping Tabs On Barco: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Barco is a tough-tackling wide player who usually works hard for his team defensively. He is a great dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third.
The Argentine talent can strike the ball purely from long-range but needs to add a few more goals to his game. He is primarily a left-winger but can also fill in as a left-back if asked to do so.
We can expect Barco to add more quality to Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s attack. He has the potential to become a future star in Premier League football. Thus, it is only logical for the Seagulls to try and arrange a cut-price move for him next year.
At 19, Barco has the ceiling to become a generational talent. All in all, there is no denying that he is a prospect to watch out for in the coming seasons.
