In a recent interview (via Area Napoli), journalist Niccolo Ceccarini mentioned that Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior is on the radar of Roma. Ceccarini said,
“Among the players liked there is certainly Kiwior. The Pole, who moved to Arsenal a year ago for more than €25m, is not finding much space and therefore it could become an interesting market opportunity.
“Roma is evaluating whether to make an attempt, perhaps with the formula of a loan until June. Another idea leads to Dier, a player who Mourinho has already coached at Tottenham. He is out of contract of contract and this could facilitate any negotiation.”
Kiwior’s Impressive Spell At The Emirates Stadium So Far
Kiwior has played a sporadic role for Arsenal this season but has managed to put in a few solid displays for them at the back. The Polish centre-back has made eight appearances for the Gunners during this campaign in all competitions.
The 23-year-old has caught the eye at times on the defensive end of the field by averaging 0.5 tackles and 1.8 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass completion rate of 88.4% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Let Kiwior Leave On Loan Next Year?
Kiwior is a solid tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his team when he is playing regularly on the pitch. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. The Polish sensation is even proficient at playing his way out from the back. He is primarily a centre-back but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or as a left-back if told to do so.
Kiwior is currently serving as an important member of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta‘s squad. He has caught the eye with his performances despite his limited playing minutes at the North London club this season.
At 23, Kiwior has his best years ahead of him. However, the Polish defensive ace needs more game time if he wants to improve as a footballer. Thus, Arteta should consider letting him leave on loan in search of more playing opportunities next year.
