Liverpool will face off against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday afternoon as they look to secure a win on the road in the Premier League. The Reds secured an impressive 3-0 over Brentford before the international break which will give them a lot of confidence ahead of this clash.
Jurgen Klopp will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation once again and could make some tweaks to his first XI for this game. Cody Gakpo is expected to lead the line for the Merseyside club on the offensive end of the pitch.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester City
Defence
Alisson Becker will feature in between the sticks for the Reds after keeping a clean sheet in his last league appearance. Virgil Van Dijk will resume his defensive partnership with Ibrahima Konate at the centre of Liverpool’s defence as they look to keep things solid inside their half during the game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will function as the right-back while Joe Gomez, who is a doubt for this game, hopes to fill in on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Joel Matip will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he offers cover for the centre-back positions.
Midfield
Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch will make up Klopp’s midfield as they look to dictate the tempo of the game at the centre of the park. All three of them need to be at the top of their game if the Reds are to come out on top this weekend.
Harvey Elliott will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if needed.
Attack
Diogo Jota will operate as the left-sided wide player while Mohamed Salah looks to prove his worth on the right flank after scoring twice versus Brentford before the international break. Cody Gakpo will lead the line for the Merseyside club in the final third.
Darwin Nunez will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the latter stages if Klopp opts to call upon his services.
