Barcelona will welcome Shakhtar Donetsk at the Nou Camp this Wednesday evening as they look to secure a win in the UEFA Champions League. The Catalan outfit managed to earn a narrow 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao recently which will keep them in high spirits ahead of this game.
Xavi will once again set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a couple of changes to his first team for this clash. Both Lamine Yamal and Ronald Araujo will get a chance to impress from the start of this contest in midweek.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Shakhtar Donetsk
Defence
Marc-Andre ter Stegen will operate in between the sticks for the Catalan outfit after earning a clean sheet versus Bilbao last weekend. Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen will function as Xavi’s primary centre-halves as they try to keep things solid at the back during the game.
Joao Cancelo will be a nailed-on starter at right-back while Alejandro Balde hopes to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and express themselves in the opponent’s half.
Marcos Alonso will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Fermin Lopez, Oriol Romeu and Ilkay Gundogan will anchor the midfield for the home team as they look to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park.
Gavi will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Joao Felix will hope to put his pace to good use on the left flank while Lamine Yamal looks to catch the eye as the right-winger.
Ferran Torres will once again lead the charge for the Catalan giants in the final third. He would be eager to get his name on the scoresheet after failing to register a goal last weekend.
Marc Guiu would be available for selection on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if Xavi’s men are in need of a goal by then.
