Newcastle United locked horns with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium earlier this evening as they hoped to pick up maximum points from this away clash in the Premier League. The Magpies made a good start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 22nd minute when Callum Wilson found the back of the net. However, Mario Lemina equalised for the home team just 14 minutes later. Callum Wilson restored his team’s lead from the penalty spot in the first half injury-time which meant that Newcastle went into the half-time break 2-1 up on the scoreline.
Hwang Hee-chan equalised for Wolves in the 71st minute as Eddie Howe’s men had to settle for a hard-fought 2-2 draw away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player performed during the clash against Wolves.
GK: Nick Pope – 6.5/10
The English keeper made a few decent saves at the back but won’t be happy about conceding two goals this evening.
RB: Kieran Trippier – 6/10
The English talent was far from solid at the back but managed to create two key chances going forward.
CB: Jamaal Lascelles – 6/10
Lascelles did his fair share of defending and was careful with his ball distribution.
CB: Fabian Schar – 7.5/10
He performed his defensive duties well and was a threat at the other end of the field.
LB: Dan Burn – 6.5/10
Burn did his best to keep things tidy when defending inside his half. However, he struggled to influence the game in the Wolves half.
CM: Sean Longstaff – 6.5/10
He was a positive influence at both ends of the field but has got nothing to show for his efforts.
CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 7.5/10
The Brazilian talent offered decent protection for his teammates at the back and made a few driving runs with the ball from midfield.
CM: Joelinton – 7/10
Joelinton worked his socks off in both halves and managed to create some inviting opportunities for others around him.
RW: Miguel Almiron – 6.5/10
He came back to defend when needed but was a quiet presence in the final third.
ST: Callum Wilson – 8/10
Wilson scored two important goals for the Magpies. However, his contributions were not enough for Newcastle to secure the win.
LW: Anthony Gordon – 6/10
He made two positive runs with the ball on the left flank but was lackluster in the final third.
Substitutes:
CM: Joe Willock – 6/10
He added some energy to Howe’s midfield.
