In a recent report, TeamTalk’s Fraser Fletcher mentioned that West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta is set to be offered a new deal. It has been stated that the Hammers are planning to tie the Brazilian midfield ace down to a new contract to fend off interest from other clubs.
Paqueta’s Impressive Form In The Premier League
Paqueta is having a fine campaign at the London Stadium as he has produced a handful of impressive displays at the centre of West Ham’s midfield. The 26-year-old has registered two goals and one assist in ten matches for the Hammers this season across various competitions.
The Brazilian sensation has been a reliable performer at the centre of the park and deserves credit for averaging 3.1 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 1.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after making 77% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at West Ham will run out in 2027. However, the player deserves a pay rise which could see the Hammers offer him a new and improved deal soon.
West Ham United Midfielder Lucas Paqueta Set To Be Offered A New Contract: Good Move For Both Parties?
Paqueta is a tough-tackling midfielder who can earn the ball back for his side at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and can even set up a few clear-cut chances for his teammates up top. Paqueta is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so by his manager.
The Brazilian talent can shoot the ball purely from long range and is proficient at making a few energetic runs from midfield.
At 26, Paqueta is about to enter his prime, so David Moyes can expect to get the best out of him at the London Stadium in the coming seasons.
Hence, it seems like a good move for both the player and the East London club if Paqueta opts to commit his long-term future by signing a new deal soon.
