In a recent report, Fichajes stated that West Ham United have identified Real Madrid ace Brahim Diaz as a target. It is understood that the Hammers are eyeing a move to land the Spanish playmaker next year.
Diaz’s Growing Frustrations At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium This Season
Diaz has endured a frustrating campaign at the Madrid club as he has struggled to earn a regular starting spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI. The Spanish sensation has registered one goal in eight matches for Los Blancos this season across all fronts.
The 24-year-old has made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.4 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 85.2% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Madrid club will expire in the summer of 2027. Therefore, West Ham would have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit Diaz next year.
Is Diaz A Good Choice For West Ham United?
Diaz has got the pace to cause a few headaches for his marker in the final third. The Spanish attacker is a good dribbler with the ball and can create some decent chances for his teammates when he is playing regularly on the field.
Diaz can even strike the ball with venom from long range. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if asked to do so.
We can expect Diaz to bring more firepower to West Ham boss David Moyes’ frontline. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium next year.
At 24, Diaz will only mature as a footballer and could get better over the next few seasons. Hence, he would be a solid choice for the Hammers to consider this January or at the end of this campaign.
Diaz failed to prove his worth in English football during his time at Man City. Hence, there are some concerns over whether he would be able to make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if Moyes manages to get him on board soon.
