In a recent report, PL Brasil claimed that West Ham United are keen on Palmeiras playmaker Luis Guilherme. It has been stated that the Hammers are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Brazilian starlet.
Guilherme’s Impressive Rise At Palmeiras
Guilherme has come through the youth ranks of Palmeiras and has done well to prove his worth as a first-team starter at the Brazilian club. The 17-year-old has already featured in 23 senior matches for his current club thus far but is still waiting to score his first goal for them in multiple competitions.
The 17-year-old has made most of his appearances off the bench but deserves credit for averaging 0.7 shots, 0.5 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 77.8% in the Brazilian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Brazilian club will expire in the summer of 2025. Hence, the Hammers could potentially land him on a cut-price deal next year.
West Ham United Are Keen On Guilherme: Is He A Star In The Making?
Guilherme is a technically gifted footballer who can make a few driving runs with the ball in the opposition half. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to orchestrate a few promising chances in the final third. The Brazilian usually functions in the number ten position but can also play as a right-sided wide player if told to do so.
We can expect Guilherme to add more quality to West Ham‘s squad in the long run. At the tender age of 17, he has already begun to showcase what he is capable of back in his homeland and is undeniably a star in the making.
Hence, the Hammers will do well to lure Guilherme to the London Stadium this January or at the end of this season. An experienced manager like David Moyes would be the ideal man to oversee the youngster’s development and unlock the best out of him over the next decade. However, the jury is still out on whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
