In a recent report, Calciomercato stated that West Ham United are keen on recruiting AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham. It has been mentioned that the Hammers are eyeing a move to sign the English centre-forward next year.
Abraham’s Decent Numbers In Italian Football Last Season
Abraham had a decent campaign at Roma recently as he put in a handful of productive displays for them in the final third. The London-born talent netted nine goal and grabbed seven assists in 54 matches for his current employers last season across all competitions.
The 26-year-old managed to catch the eye by averaging 1.6 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has lacked quality when interchanging possession deep inside the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 68.3% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Abraham is currently sidelined due to a cruciate ligament injury. His current deal at Roma will run out in the summer of 2026 which would make it difficult for the Hammers to sign him next year.
What Will Abraham Add To West Ham United Boss David Moyes’ Side?
Abraham can engineer some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third and can create the odd chance for his teammates up top.
The English forward can make some driving runs with the ball as well but needs to find a way to improve his passing accuracy on the offensive end of the field. Standing at 1.94m, he can be a dominant presence in the air as well.
Abraham will no doubt enhance the quality of West Ham head coach David Moyes’ match-day squad. He has what it takes to offer some healthy competition for Michail Antonio and Danny Ings at the London Stadium in the future.
Abraham will add more goals to West Ham’s attack and could help the Hammers challenge across all fronts over the next few years. He already knows the Premier League well from his previous spells at Swansea City, Aston Villa and Chelsea. Hence, Moyes can expect him to make an instant impact at the East London club if he can find a way to land him soon.
