In a recent report (via Sabah), it was revealed that West Ham United are eager to sign Galatasaray winger Kerem Aktürkoglu. It has been stated that the Hammers are keeping a keen eye on the Turkish wide player ahead of a potential move next year.
Akturkoglu’s Decent Form In The Turkish Super Lig
Akturkoglu has enjoyed an impressive campaign in Turkish football as he has put in a run of productive displays in the final third. The 24-year-old has featured in 16 matches for the Hammers this season, scoring five goals and grabbing seven assists in all competitions.
The Kocaeli-born talent has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.4 shots, 2.6 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution after completing only 66.4% of his attempted passes in the Turkish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Galatasaray will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Hammers to strike a deal for him on the cheap next year.
What Will Akturkoglu Add To West Ham United Boss David Moyes’ Side?
Akturkoglu excels at finding space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He is a good dribbler with the ball and can engineer some inviting opportunities for his teammates to score. However, the Turkish winger has to find a way to improve his link-up play on the attacking end of the field.
Akturkoglu is primarily a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player or play as a secondary striker down the middle if asked to do so.
Akturkoglu would add even more firepower to West Ham United boss David Moyes’ attack. He would even help the Hammers compete across all competitions in the coming seasons. Thus, the East London club should focus on bringing him to the Premier League this January or at the end of this campaign.
At 24, Akturkoglu will only get better in the coming years which makes him a worthy target for West Ham to consider in 2024.
