In a recent report, Calciomercato claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to recruit the Italian left-back next year.
Cambiaso’s Impressive Form In Italian Football
Cambiaso is having a solid campaign at the Allianz Stadium as he has put in a run of impressive displays on the left side of Juve’s backline. The Italian talent has found the back of the net once and earned one assist in nine matches for his current employers this season across all competitions.
The 23-year-old has made most of his appearances off the bench but has done well to average 1.1 tackles, 0.7 clearances, 0.7 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been careful when distributing possession from the left flank based on his pass completion rate of 88.9% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for Spurs to land him on the cheap next year.
Is Cambiaso A Decent Choice For Tottenham Hotspur?
Cambiaso is a good tackler of the ball and usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. He can shoot the ball with power from long-range and can even create some inviting chances for his teammates from the left flank.
The Italian talent is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He mainly plays as a left-back but can also function as a left-winger or as a right-back if needed.
We can expect Cambiaso to add more quality to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s defence. He is good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at the North London club.
At 23, Cambiaso has got a lot of room to grow as a footballer which makes him a worthy choice for Spurs to pursue when the transfer window reopens at the start of next year. However, it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the physical nature and high intensity of English football if Tottenham manage to land him.
