In a recent report, Aksam claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on recruiting Galatasaray winger Kerem Akturkoglu. It has been stated that Spurs are eager to snap up the Turkish footballer in 2024.
Akturkoglu’s Decent Form In The Turkish Super Lig
The talented wide player has enjoyed a fruitful campaign at the Turkish club as he put in a string of eye-catching performances out on the flanks. Akturkoglu has played in 16 matches for Galatasaray this season, scoring five goals and earning seven assists in all competitions.
The Kocaeli-born talent has caught the eye with his contributions in the final third based on his average of 2.4 shots, 2.6 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. However, he needs to improve his link-up play in the opponent’s half as evidenced by his pass success rate of 66.4% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Galatasaray will expire in 2026 which would make it difficult for Tottenham to land him on the cheap next year.
Is Akturkoglu A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?
Akturkoglu can create a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He is a pure striker of the ball and can even make a few dangerous runs with the ball out in the wide areas. The Turkish talent has also got the vision to orchestrate a few promising chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field. However, he needs to work on improving his passing accuracy in the opposition half.
At 24, Akturkoglu has his prime years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu to consider for the long run.
Akturkoglu is already good enough to increase competition for places within the North London club‘s squad. He might even help Spurs challenge across all fronts over the next decade.
However, Akturkoglu is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and might struggle to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing someone with his skillset and potential. Therefore, Postecoglu should focus on getting a deal done for the Turkish wing wizard this January or next summer.
