Newcastle United will entertain Paris Saint-Germain at St. James’ Park on Wednesday night as they look to earn a good result at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Magpies earned a solid 2-0 win over Burnley recently which will give them some confidence ahead of this game.
Eddie Howe will set his team up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make one change to his first XI for this game. Sandro Tonali could get a chance to play from the start of this clash for the Tyneside club.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Paris Saint-Germain
Defence
Nick Pope will feature in goal for the Magpies after securing a clean sheet in his last appearance. Fabian Schar will resume his partnership with Jamaal Lascelles at the centre of Newcastle’s backline as they try to keep things solid at the back during the game.
Kieran Trippier will be a nailed-on starter as the right-back while Dan Burn hopes to prove his worth on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them need to perform their defensive duties well if the Magpies are to secure a positive result in midweek.
Sven Botman will be sidelined for this game due to a knee injury.
Midfield
Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Sean Longstaff will make up Howe’s midfield as they try to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them need to move the ball well if the home team are to create enough chances on the counter.
Elliot Anderson will have to settle for a spot on the bench but might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if asked to do so.
Attack
Anthony Gordon could keep his place as the left-winger while Miguel Almiron hopes to make a difference from the right flank.
Alexander Isak will spearhead the Tyneside club’s attack up top. He has to find a way to threaten the opponent’s goal if Newcastle want to earn maximum points from this European clash at St. James’ Park.
Jacob Murphy will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to influence the game in the latter stages if needed.
