In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid have identified Giron full-back Yan Couto, who is currently playing on loan from Manchester City, as a target. It has been stated that Los Blancos are hoping to land the Brazilian talent next year.
Couto’s Impressive Form At Girona This Season
Couto is having an impressive loan spell at Girona after putting in a run of impressive displays on the right side of their defence. The 21-year-old has scored one goal and earned three assists in ten matches for the Spanish outfit this season across all fronts.
The Brazilian sensation has caught the eye at both ends of the field and deserves credit for averaging 1.9 tackles, 0.7 clearances, 1.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 79.9% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Man City will run out in the summer of 2025. Therefore, Los Blancos could potentially land him on a cut-price deal next summer.
What Will Couto Bring To Real Madrid?
Couto is a good tackler of the ball and can make a few important clearances for his team inside his half. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to create a few decent chances for his teammates up top. The Brazilian full-back is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. He is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player if needed.
We can expect Couto to bring more quality to Real Madrid‘s defence. He is good enough to serve as an ideal successor to Dani Carvajal at the Madrid club in the long run.
Couto has the potential to become a future star in European football. Hence, Los Blancos should consider trying everything they can to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this January or at the end of this campaign. Couto already knows La Liga well by now and won’t take much time to settle into life in the Spanish capital if Real Madrid manage to sign him next year.
