In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo mentioned that Real Madrid are monitoring the progress of Palmeiras talent Luis Guilherme. It has been claimed that Los Blancos would face competition from Barcelona in the race to land the Brazilian attacker.
Guilherme’s Rapid Rise In Brazilian Football
The 17-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Palmeiras and has done well to establish himself as an important member of their senior team. Guilherme has made 23 appearances for the Brazilian club thus far but is still waiting to score or assist his first goal for them.
The South American sensation has seen most of his game time come off the bench but deserves credit for averaging 0.7 shots, 0.5 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 77.8% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Brazilian club will expire in 2025. Hence, Los Blancos could potentially land him on a cut-price deal next summer.
Real Madrid Are Monitoring The Progress Of Guilherme: Is He A Star In The Making?
Guilherme can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for others around him in the final third.
The Brazilian playmaker is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball on the offensive end of the field. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a striker or as a right-winger if asked to do so.
We can expect Guilherme to be a great signing for Los Blancos in the long run. At 17, he is undoubtedly a star in the making, so Real Madrid should focus on getting a deal done for him this January or at the end of this campaign.
However, Guilherme is still quite raw and would need time to settle into life at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Still, there is no denying that he has the potential to become a success story at the Madrid club in the long run.
