Liverpool will entertain Union SG at Anfield on Thursday night as they look to earn a positive result at home in the UEFA Europa League. The Reds suffered a hard-fought 2-1 loss away at Tottenham Hotspur recently and would be eager to bounce back with a win at Merseyside this week.
Jurgen Klopp will opt for a 4-3-3 formation once again and could make a lot of changes to his first XI for this game. Darwin Nunez is expected to lead the line for the Merseyside club on the attacking end of the pitch.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Union SG
Defence
Caoimhín Kelleher will feature in between the sticks for the Reds as he looks to secure a clean sheet at Anfield. Virgil Van Dijk could partner Ibrahima Konate at the centre of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep the opposition at bay during the game.
Joe Gomez will continue to function as the right-back while Kostas Tsimikas fills in on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and express themselves in the final third.
Joel Matip will get a rest on the bench as he offers cover for the centre-back positions.
Midfield
Ryan Gravenberch, Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott will make up Klopp’s midfield as they focus on establishing their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them need to move the ball well and create some decent openings for their teammates up top.
Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai will be rested on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Diogo Jota would get a chance to redeem himself on the left flank after he was sent off versus Spurs last weekend. Ben Doak will try to put his pace to good use on the right wing.
Darwin Nunez will lead the charge for the Reds down the middle. He was an unused substitute against Tottenham, so we can expect him to be hungry to find the back of the net in this European clash at Anfield this week.
Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah will be available for selection on the bench and might come on in the final quarter of the game if Liverpool are in need of a goal by then.
