In a recent report, The Northern Echo stated that Newcastle United have set their sights on Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe. It has been claimed that the Magpies are eyeing a move to bring the English talent to Tyneside in the January transfer window.
Smith Rowe’s Lack Of Game Time At Arsenal
Smith Rowe has played a sporadic role in Mikel Arteta’s squad this season as he has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at the North London club. The 23-year-old has made just six appearances for the Gunners but has failed to score or create a goal for them during this campaign.
The London-born sensation has caught the eye at times but has often fallen behind Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard in Arsenal’s pecking order. Thus, it is only logical for him to seek a move elsewhere in search of more playing time in the future.
His current contract at the North London club will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, the Magpies will have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit Smith Rowe next year.
Is Smith Rowe A Good Choice For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?
Smith Rowe is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few energetic runs with the ball out in the wide areas. The English talent can even set up some promising opportunities for his teammates to score when he is playing regularly on the field.
Smith Rowe is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also serve as a left-sided wide player or as a box-to-box midfielder if needed.
The English sensation would add more firepower to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s attack. He might even help the Magpies challenge across all fronts in the coming seasons.
At 23, there is still plenty of time for Smith Rowe to turn his fortunes around for the better in the future. All in all, the Tyneside club should only consider moving in for him if they are willing to play him regularly in the Premier League.
Smith Rowe could prove to be a decent choice for the Magpies as long as they can get him for a fair price this winter or at the end of this season.
